- The Starlab consists of a semi-spherical inflatable dome and a highly versatile projector. The dome is manufactured from nylon-reinforced, flame retardant fabric. The inside surface has an aluminised reflective coating designed to clearly display bright images. The dome is inflated and ventilated by a powerful fan. Total time for inflation and installation of the unit is approximately 20 minutes. The indoor site for the dome must have a reasonably flat floor, a 13 amp power supply and dimensions of 21ft x 18 ft (6.4 x 5.5m) with a height of not less than 10.5 ft. (3.2m).

- The Projector when fitted with the northern starfield cylinder will show 3,000 stars, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter and Saturn. The planets can be shown according to their true position on a given day. The cylinder platform can be rotated manually or automatically to allow for seasonal changes, sunrise, sunset, multiphase moon or global rotation. It can also be set for any month of the year, time of day and geographic location.

- A variety of projection cylinders are available including Greek Mythology, (mythological figures are projected upon a starry background) and Ancient Egyptian Mythology .

- Wheel chair users and people with special needs can be accommodated easily.
